Lt. Gregory Fritz
Lt. Gregory Fritz is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Akron, a Master of Education Administration degree from the University of New Orleans, and a Master of Music degree in Wind Band Conducting from Arizona State University.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1998 and attended recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Following training, he reported to the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia, as a percussion instrumentalist.
Lt. Fritz began his enlisted career assigned to U.S. Navy Steel Drum Band in New Orleans, Louisiana. Other enlisted duty stations included Navy Band New Orleans, 6th Fleet Band, Naples, Italy, and Navy Band Great Lakes, Great Lakes, Illinois. He has completed the Navy’s unit leader and senior musician courses.
Lt. Fritz served twelve years in the enlisted ranks, reaching the rate of senior chief petty officer. He commissioned as a limited duty officer bandmaster on Oct. 1, 2010, and served officer tours as a department head for the U.S. Navy Band in Washington D.C., and as director, Navy Band Northeast in Newport, Rhode Island.
His personal military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct Medal (five awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
