SMWDC -- USS Bunker Hill
April 10, 2017 (San Diego). Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI), Lt. Cmdr. Katie Whitman of the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), provides tactical training to officers aboard USS Bunker Hill (CG 52).  WTIs are an elite cadre of junior surface warfare officers (SWO), charged with increasing the tactical proficiency and lethality of the Surface Forces. WTIs specialize in three individual surface warfare areas: integrated air and missile defense, amphibious warfare, and anti-submarine/surface warfare. WTI classes are led by SMWDC and held biannually in January and July, in San Diego and Virginia.
