Command Senior Chief (July 2014 - June 2015)

Senior Chief Bell is a native of Brockton, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the United States Navy in March 2000. He completed recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois. He then graduated from Hull Technician “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois. He holds an Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Chaminade University of Honolulu as well as a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University. He holds certifications as a Master Homeland Security Specialist and Police Officer (Government Service) through the U.S. Department of Labor.

After graduating HT “A” School, he reported aboard the USS VINCENNES (CG 49) in Yokosuka, Japan. He left VINCENNES in 2003, as a Third Class Petty Officer. He then converted to Master-at-Arms and attended MA “A” School in Point Loma, California. After graduating, he reported to Commander Navy Region Hawaii Security Department and was promoted to Second Class Petty Officer while serving as Watch Commander.

On his first shore duty in Hawaii he also served as an Individual Augmentee for 11 months as part of the Navy Provisional Guard Battalion in the Joint Detention Operations Group, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. While serving as a Cell Block Leading Petty Officer, he was responsible for the firm, fair, and impartial treatment as well as the safe keeping of over 500 detainees. During this tour he advanced to First Class Petty Officer.

His next assignment was in 2006, to NAVY RECRUITING DISTRICT DALLAS serving as Recruiter-in-Charge of Navy Recruiting Station Lewisville, Texas. During this tour he advanced to Chief Petty Officer.

He then served as Chief Master-at-Arms and Weapons Division LCPO aboard the USS TORTUGA (LSD 46) in Sasebo, Japan. During this tour he was selected as the 2010 Navy and Marine Corps Leadership Award winner for Expeditionary Strike Group Seven and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Senior Chief Bell was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program in 2012. He graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy Class #166 Blue Group with honors and is a graduate of the CMC/COB Command Leadership School Class #102. He served as USS DEFENDER'S Command Senior Chief home ported in Sasebo, Japan from JUN 2012 until JULY 2014 and now currently serves as the Command Senior Chief aboard USS CHIEF (MCM 14) after completing Hull Swap.

His awards include The Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8 Awards), Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (2) awards, Battle Efficiency Ribbon (2) awards, Good Conduct Medal (3) awards, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (5) awards, Overseas Service (8) awards, Recruiting Service Ribbon with twelve Gold Wreaths for Excellence.
