Command Master Chief

Command Master Chief Myla Presco is a native of Cavite, Philippines. She enlisted in the Navy in September 1992 and attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Command in Orlando, Florida. Her first duty assignment was onboard USS SAMUEL GOMPERS (AD-37) as a non rated Seaman before attending Storekeeper A-school in Meridian, MS.

Her follow-on tour was at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four (NMCB-4) in Port Hueneme, CA. In February 1997, she reported to Naval Regional Contracting Center in Singapore. In 2002, she reported to USS ESSEX (LHD-2) in San Diego, CA where she completed various deployments including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in EAST TIMOR and FOAL EAGLE, as well as a successful HULLSWAP with USS BELLEAUWOOD (LHA-3) in Sasebo, Japan. In 2002, she was selected to Chief Petty Officer.

In March 2003, she reported to Commander Naval Personnel Command in Millington, TN as a detailer and was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer. Upon completion, she reported onboard forward-deployed USS COWPENS (CG-63) in Yokosuka, Japan as the Supply Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. During this tour, she completed various deployments to include ANNUALEX, FOAL EAGLE, EXERCISE TALISMAN SABER, VALIANT SHIELD 2007 and US-Japan EXERCISE KEEN SWORD 2008.

In November 2009, she completed an IA/GSA tour with CENTCOM Deployment Distribution and Operations Center in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In December 2010, she reported to NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Sigonella serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader until her selection to Master Chief Petty Officer. In February 2012, she was selected for the Command Master Chief Program.

In June 2012, she assumed the duties of Command Master Chief for USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL (DDG-81) in Norfolk, VA. While onboard, she completed a nine-month deployment to the FIFTH Fleet area of responsibility with the DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER and JOHN C. STENNIS Carrier Strike Groups, as well as a short deployment with the THEODORE E. ROOSEVELT Carrier Strike Group. In June 2015, she assumed the duties of Command Master Chief for Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton.

She reported to the USS SOMERSET (LPD-25) as Command Master Chief in January 2018.

Master Chief Presco is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course in Newport, RI. Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
