Commander Anna Villalpando
Executive Officer (October 2015 - March 2017)

A native of Orange, California, CDR Villalpando graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2000, earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Her initial tour was onboard USS PONCE (LPD-15) as the First Division Officer and Weapons Officer, conducting a wartime deployment as part of Amphibious Task Force East for the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Her following tour was as Assistant Operations Officer, Navigator, and Decommissioning Coordinator on USS ELLIOT (DD-967), which was decommissioned in 2003. The crew conducted a sea swap to USS FLETCHER (DD-992) where she deployed again in support of Iraqi Freedom. She later served as the Decommissioning Coordinator for FLETCHER’s decommissioning in 2004. On her subsequent shore duty she served as an instructor in the Marine Corps logistics branch at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Pacific.

Following Department Head School, CDR Villalpando reported to USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD-18) as Operations Officer and conducted the ship’s inaugural deployment in 2009. She later reported to her second Department Head tour as Operations Officer on the staff of Commander, Amphibious Squadron FIVE.

In 2011, CDR Villalpando reported to I Marine Expeditionary Force where she was assigned to the G-3, Expeditionary Operations cell. In 2012, she was assigned to Carrier Strike Group FIFTEEN as the Amphibious Officer, in charge of West Coast ARG/MEU Integrated Training Assessments. During this tour she completed requirements for her Masters in Engineering Management from National University.

Personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4), Meritorious Unit Commendation and other unit and service awards.
