Captain Greg Baker hails from Charleston, SC. He enlisted in the Navy in 1984 as a Cryptologic Technician, Communications and subsequently earned a commission via the Enlisted Commissioning Program. Following graduation in 1995 from Maine Maritime Academy he attended SWOS and joined the “Gator Navy.”

His at sea assignments include USS FORRESTAL (CV 59), USS ANCHORAGE (LSD 36), USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65), USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) and PHBIRON ELEVEN his commissioned assignments were in deck and engineering. He has participated in exercises throughout the world, from Ocean Safari in the Northern Atlantic to Mine Countermeasures Exercises in FIFTH Fleet. He has participated in major operations from EARNEST WILL to INHERENT RESOLVE.

He served as Executive Officer aboard USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17) and commanded USS ARLINGTON (LPD 24). While aboard ARLINGON he participated in BOLD ALLIGATOR, the largest exercise on the east coast, in a NATO construct under the command of a Flag Officer from the Netherlands.

Captain Baker’s shore assignments include NSGA Hanza, Okinawa, Japan, NTTC Pensacola, FL, CTF 76 in Sasebo, Japan, OPNAV N75, US Forces, Iraq, FIFTH Fleet and Expeditionary Strike Group TWO in Little Creek, VA.

He obtained a Master’s of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

Captain Baker's awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and various personal, unit and service awards.
