SAN DIEGO – The “Paladins” of Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Crew 208 joined forces with other Sailors assigned to other pre-commissioning units at Littoral Combat Ship Squadron (LCSRON) 1 to take home first place in the Naval Base San Diego Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Cup competition, April 14.
The cup consisted of six events including a tire flip, one-mile run, relay race, push-up competition, pull-up competition and a tug-of-war.
LCS Crew 208’s team excelled and took home first in the overall SAPR Cup completion, a remarkable feat demonstrating the outstanding warrior spirit of these 50-Sailor crews.
"It is these types of events that not only raise awareness for important issues like sexual assault prevention, but they build camaraderie, teamwork, and boost morale,” said Cmdr. Dan Straub, LCS Crew 208's prospective commanding officer.
A group of Paladins also participated in a Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) 5K and one-mile fun run hosted by LCSRON 1 at Balboa Park, April 17. The events served as a chance to take a break from the normal routine, get a workout in, and observe April as SAAM.
The Paladins of LCS Crew 208 are currently preparing for crew certification and going “on hull” aboard PCU Jackson (LCS 6) later this year.
