CREST Issuing from a torse Argent and Celeste a graphic representation of the Milwaukee Art Museum Azure, between two wheat stalks, Or.

SUPPORTERS A United States Navy CPO cutlass and United States Navy Officer’s sword points down saltirewise Proper.

MOTTO A Dark Blue swallowtail scroll with two Gold stars on either end, inscribed “STRENGTH FREEDOM” in Gold letters, on the centerfold a Gold star with the date “1846” in Blue letters


The coat of arms as blazoned in full color upon a white oval enclosed by a dark blue collar edged on the outside with a gold rope and bearing the inscription “USS MILWAUKEE” at top and “LCS 5” in base in gold.


SHIELD The colors dark blue and gold are traditionally associated with the Navy and are prominently displayed throughout the seal. Here, light blue represents the waters of Lake Michigan where the city of Milwaukee is located. The lightning bolts highlight the ship’s high speed capability and state of the art electronics. The anchor has a gear wheel hub which is taken from the city of Milwaukee flag and has five exposed notches to indicate that this is the fifth naval vessel named after the city.

CREST The landmark, Milwaukee Art Museum, is familiar to the area skyline and is a symbol of the city’s future. The wheat stalks denote the growth and vitality of the city of Milwaukee.

SUPPORTERS The crossed sword and cutlass symbolize the teamwork and cooperation demonstrated by the war team of USS MILWAUKEE.

MOTTO Blue is the color signifying devotion to duty. The motto “STRENTH” and “FREEDOM” emphasizes that devotion and the spirit of the city of Milwaukee. The five stars denote that this is the fifth ship in the LCS class.
