1st USS Milwaukee
The first USS Milwaukee was a double turreted river monitor that was launched by James B. Eads at Carondelet, Mo. on 4 February 1864 and commissioned at Mound City, Illinois.
2nd USS Milwaukee
The second USS Milwaukee (C‑21) was a cruiser laid down 30 July 1902 by Union Iron Works, San Francisco, Calif., launched 10 September 1904 and commissioned 10 December 1906 with Cmdr. Charles A. Gove as the commanding officer.
3rd USS Milwaukee
The third USS Milwaukee (CL‑5) was laid down 13 December 1918 by Seattle Construction & Dry Dock Co., Seattle, Wash., and commissioned 20 June 1923 with Capt. William C. Asserson as the commanding officer.
4th USS Milwaukee
The fourth USS Milwaukee (AOR‑2), a Wichita-class replenishment oiler, was laid down 29 November 1966 by General Dynamics Corp., Quincy Yard, Quincy, Mass. On 1 November 1969 she was commissioned USS Milwaukee (AOR-2).
