Commanding Officer - LCS Crew 206
A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cmdr. Aaron Anderson is a graduate of Iowa State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1996 and commissioned as an ensign in October 1999, through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.
Anderson’s sea duty assignments include serving as aviation ordnance officer aboard USS Tarawa (LHA 1); training officer aboard USS Ogden (LPD 5); operations officer aboard USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG 60); and first lieutenant aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). During those sea tours, he participated in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercises, a 4th Fleet Counter Narcotics deployment, and an Amphibious Ready Group deployment to the 5th Fleet. Anderson also served as executive officer of LCS Crew 104 and USS Milwaukee (LCS 5), and as commanding officer of LCS Crew 104, LCS Crew 108, and USS Milwaukee (LCS 5).
Ashore, he was assigned to U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM ) in Omaha, Nebraska, where he served as a joint training officer. While at STRATCOM, he attended Creighton University and earned a Master of Arts in International Relations. He also attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He was assigned to Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet where he served as the current operations deputy and fleet scheduler. His most recent shore assignment was at Commander Naval Surface Forces, Pacific as current operations officer.
He currently serves as commanding officer aboard USS Manchester (LCS 14).
Anderson’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Joint Commendation Medal, and Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), as well as various unit citations and campaign awards.
