ITCM(SW/EXW) Lonnie K. Gillilan
Senior Elisted Leader  (July 2012 - February 2013)

Master Chief Gillilan enlisted in the Navy in May 1983. After completion of recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut. He attended Strategic Weapons Systems Electronics Class “A” School and Missile Technician Class “C” School at Damneck, Virginia. Upon completion of schooling he reported to USS Daniel Webster SSBN 626(B) in Groton, Connecticut for his first sea duty assignment.

Following this tour, he reported to USS Francis Scott Key SSBN 657(B) in Charleston, South Carolina. He then reported as a member of the SMMS Performance Monitoring Team for Submarine Squadrons 16 and 20 in Kings Bay, Georgia. While there he was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

After completion of Trident II combined Missile Technician/Fire Control Technician (Ballistic) training, he reported to USS Kentucky SSBN 737(G) as the Strategic Weapons Department Leading Chief Petty Officer.

He converted to the Radioman rating following his tour onboard USS Kentucky and was assigned as the Tactical Support Center Communications Leading Chief Petty Officer at Barbers Point, Hawaii.

Back to sea duty again, this time onboard USS David R. Ray DD-971 in Everett, Washington as the Radio Division and Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. While stationed onboard, he attained the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

He then reported to United States Strategic Command in Omaha, Nebraska as the Command Center Division Operations and Training Leading Chief Petty Officer and Global Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. While there he was promoted to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. He then transferred to Commander Seventh Fleet onboard the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) in Yokosuka, Japan. While onboard Seventh Fleet, he served as the Communication Leading Chief Petty Officer and Staff Senior Enlisted Advisor.

He reported to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Strategic Communications Unit, Oklahoma City in January of 2006 as the Assistant Officer in Charge and Senior Enlisted Advisor. In August of 2008, he transferred to a GSA assignment at Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, Africa, where he was the N6 LCPO.

Since reporting onboard USS Blue Ridge, he has been assigned as the Information Systems Department Network Operations LCPO and Operations Department LCPO.

Personal Decorations worn by Master Chief Gillilan include the Enlisted Surface Warfare breast insignia, Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare breast insignia, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (5), Navy Achievement Medal (3), along with various campaign and service medals and ribbons.
