Command Master Chief (Aug 2009 - Apr 2013)

Master Chief Robertson was born and raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Aldine High School in June 1988. He enlisted in the Navy in August where he completed his Recruit Training and Radioman “A” School in San Diego, CA. His first assignment took him to Norfolk, VA onboard the Aircraft Carrier Staff, Commander Carrier Group FOUR (COMCARGRU FOUR) from March 1989 – August 1993. During his tour he was advance to Radioman Second Class Petty Officer.
After completion of his first assignment, Master Chief Robertson reported to United States Army Signal Center in Fort Gordon, GA for Satellite Operator (Navy) Course of Instruction in August 1993. Upon completion of his training in October 1993 he was awarded NEC 2363 and then transferred to Naval Communications Area Master Station Honolulu, HI as a SATCOM Operator until March of 1997.
Master Chief Robertson was then assigned to Pre-Commissioning Duty and fitting out onboard USS DECATUR (DDG 73). The DECATUR was commissioned in Portland, OR in August 1998. Master Chief Robertson served onboard DECATUR from March 1997 to December 2001. During his tour he deployed twice to the Western Pacific in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
In December 2001, he was sent back to the Hawaiian Islands to Naval Submarine Training Center Pearl Harbor, HI for Instructor Development Training. Upon completion of training he reported to Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific as an Underway Trainer and Instructor from February 2002 – July 2004. While at ATGMIDPAC he was certified as a Master Training Specialist (MTS) and was selected to Chief Petty Officer.
In July 2004, he reported to the staff of Commander Destroyer Squadron THIRTY-ONE as the Communication Officer. During his tour he completed the world cruise onboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. In July 2007 he reported to Surface Warfare Officer School Command (SWOS) Newport, RI. During his tour he attended the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 134) and was selected for the Command Master/Senior Chief program.
Master Chief Robertson completed the CMC/COB Course (Class 62) and assumed duties as Command Senior Chief onboard USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) in August 2009. In April 2010 USS VANDEGRIFT deployed to the Western Pacific participating in CARAT 2010 and Pacific Partnership including a highly visible visit to Vladivostok, Russia for Russian Navy Day. Master Chief Robertson deployed with USS VANDEGRFIT (FFG 48) again in May 2012 in support of CARAT 2012. In May 2012 he was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer and converted to Command Master Chief in June of that same year.
Master Chief Robertson's awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), and numerous campaign medals and unit citations. He is also entitled to wear the Enlisted Surface warfare insignia.
