|CDR Andrew Roy
A native of Peachtree City, Georgia, CDR Roy received his commission from the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in History in 2001.
At sea, CDR Roy completed Division Officer tours in USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) as First Lieutenant from 2001 to 2003 and in USS PRINCETON (CG 59) as Training Officer and Assistant Operations Officer from 2003 to 2005. His Department Head tours were onboard USS STOUT (DDG 55) as Operations Officer from 2009 to 2010 and as the N3 / Africa Operations Officer in COMDESRON 60 forward deployed to Naples, Italy from 2010 to 2011. His most recent tour afloat was as Executive Officer in USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91) from 2018 to 2019.
Ashore, CDR Roy earned a Masters in Leadership and Human Resources Development from the Naval Postgraduate School and was the 14th Company Officer at USNA from 2006 to 2008. After his Department Head tours, he served as the Flag Lieutenant to Commander, Naval Forces Europe and Africa. He then transferred to U.S. Pacific Command at Camp Smith, Hawaii where he served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commander from 2012 to 2013 and then as a Policy Analyst in the China Strategic Focus Group from 2013 to 2014. While at PACOM, CDR Roy earned designation as a Joint Qualified Officer. His most recent shore assignment was as a CDR/LCDR detailer in PERS-41 at Navy Personnel Command from 2014 to 2017.
CDR Roy’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and multiple unit and campaign awards.
