CDR Ryan Leary
Commanding Officer

CDR Ryan Leary earned his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and was commissioned in 2000 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.

At sea, CDR Ryan Leary served in USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53) as Electrical Officer, Navigation Officer in USS O’BANNON (DD 987), Aide de Camp to Commander Carrier Strike Group ELEVEN, Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS MONTEREY (CG 61), and Executive Officer in USS STETHEM (DDG 63). Deployments during his tours included Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) operations, Air Defense, and Ballistic Missile Defense in U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, U.S. Central Command and U.S. European Command areas of responsibility.

Ashore, CDR Leary served as a Staff Officer at the Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense Organization / Joint Staff and as a Ballistic Missile Defense Planner and Aide de Camp to Commander, U.S. SIXTH Fleet. Also, Ryan earned a Master of Business Administration from University of California, San Diego as part of the SWO MBA Program and completed a Federal Executive Fellowship at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal.
