Command Master Chief (June 2016 - July 2018)
Master Chief Strader is a native of St. Louis, Missouri in 1971. She enlisted in the Navy in 1998 and attended Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. Following Basic Training, she attended Electronic Warfare Operator “A” school and SLQ-32 Technician “C” school at Navy Technical Training Center, Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida.
Master Chief Strader reported to her first sea duty assignment onboard USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) in Norfolk, Virginia completing two Persian Gulf deployments in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and DETERMINED RESPONSE. She then reported to SPAWAR Space Field Activity, Chantilly, Virginia as Operations Watch Supervisor and Training Officer and was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2006.
In 2007, she reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois as a Recruit Division Commander where she qualified Master Training Specialist and was awarded the Distinguished Leadership Award during her tour.
Returning to sea duty in 2010, she reported to USS San Jacinto (CG 56) ) in Norfolk, Virginia as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and OT Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief Strader reported as a Leadership Facilitator at the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island in 2013 where she was selected to the Command Senior Chief Program. In 2016, Master Chief Strader was selected to the Command Master Chief Program.
Master Chief Strader is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 170) and the Navy Leadership and Ethics Center Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 156). She holds an Associate of Art Degree in Computer Systems from Coastline Community College and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University.
Master Chief Strader is qualified to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare (ESWS) and the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) insignias. Her personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal (six awards), and various unit, service, and campaign decorations.
Command Master Chief Strader is currently serving as the Command Master Chief on USS Shoup (DDG 86) homeported in Everett, Washington.
