LCDR Chris Bland
Executive Officer (August 2019 - May 2020)

Lieutenant Commander Bland is from Medford, New Jersey and was commissioned in 2003 through the NROTC program. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Previous at sea assignments include tours as Auxiliaries Officer in USS LASSEN (DDG 82), Navigator in USS OGDEN (LPD 5), Chief Engineer in USS LASSEN (DDG 82), and Flag Secretary to Commander, Carrier Strike Group ELEVEN, embarked in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68).

Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Bland served as Admin Department Head at Maritime Component Command, Northwood, United Kingdom; as an Engineering Assessor at Engineering Assessments Atlantic; and most recently as Chief Staff Officer, Destroyer Squadron SIX ZERO, Rota, Spain.

He reported as Executive Officer in USS MCCAMPBELL (DDG 85) in August 2019.

His personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and the Surface Navy Association’s Admiral Arleigh Burke Award for Operational Excellence 2014.
