Executive Officer (February 2019 - August 2019)
Lieutenant Commander Clemons was a native of and raised in Smithville, Texas. He graduated from Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes in October 1997 and subsequently served as a Sonar Technician onboard USS HONOLULU (SSN 718). He was awarded a NROTC scholarship to attend the Prairie View A&M University where he graduated and received his commission in 2003.
Lieutenant Commander Clemons’s sea tours include Damage Control Assistant on USS ROBERT G. BRADLEY (FFG 49) and Weapons Officer Patrol Coastal Crew Bravo on USS HURRICANE (PC-3). He served on USS STETHEM (DDG 63) as the Chief Engineer and fleeted up to Combat System Officer from December 2011 through June 2015. Lieutenant Commander Clemons served as the Executive Officer on USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) from August to December 2017. Most recently, he served as an Integrated Air Missile Defense Officer for Commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet on USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19).
Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Clemons served as the Operations Officer at Afloat Training Group, Ingleside, TX. Upon the closure of Ingleside, he served as Mine Counter Measure Training Liaison Officer at Afloat Training Group, San Diego, California.
Lieutenant Commander Clemons reported as the Executive Officer on USS McCAMPBELL (DDG 85) in February 2019.
Lieutenant Commander Clemons’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.
