CDR Patrick Sullivan
Commanding Officer

CDR Sullivan was a native of New York, NY and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. He attended the University of New Hampshire and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He received his commission from Officer Candidate School in 2000.

His first tour of duty was aboard USS O’KANE (DDG-77), where he served as Gunnery Officer and Auxiliaries Officer. CDR Sullivan completed his second division officer tour in O’KANE serving as Fire Control Officer. During these tours, CDR Sullivan completed two deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In March 2004, CDR Sullivan reported to the Naval Postgraduate School completing a Master’s Degree in Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation (MOVES) and his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME I). He was awarded the Surface Navy Association Award for outstanding research in Surface Warfare.

In July 2007, CDR Sullivan reported to Pre-Commissioning Unit TRUXTUN (DDG-103) as the Operations Officer.

CDR Sullivan was selected for Early Command in 2009 and reported aboard Forward Deployed USS AVENGER (MCM 1) in Sasebo, Japan as Executive Officer September 2010. He assumed command of AVENGER in 2011.

Post Command, he served as the COMSEVENTHFLT Fleet Scheduler and Fuels Officer from 2013-2017. CDR Sullivan reported to USS McCAMPBELL in July 2017 as the Executive Officer. CDR Sullivan’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and service awards.
