Two Phantom Warriors earned their surface warfare officer pins aboard USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60) in May.

Lt. Alexander Yachanin and Ensign Daniel Camuti earned their designations as surface warfare officers following a qualification process that required the officers to master the principles of navigation, shipboard engineering, and warfighting at sea.

“This is one of my favorite parts of being a captain,” said Cmdr. Edward Bertucci, the commanding officer of USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60). “It does not get much better than awarding a SWO pin to such deserving officers.”

The pins were dipped in seawater prior to the ceremony, a Paul Hamilton tradition.

Stationed in San Diego, Paul Hamilton is the 10th Arleigh Burke-class Aegis guided-missile destroyer.
