CDR Scott A. Carroll
Executive Officer (July 2009 - July 2011)

CDR Carroll is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He received his commission through Northwestern University Navy ROTC after graduating with a degree in Communication Studies in 1995.

His first assignment was in USS JOHN YOUNG (DD 973) where he served as Electrical Officer and Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer. During this tour, he also served as a Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) boarding officer in support of United Nations sanctions against Iraq. His next assignment was Assault Craft Unit FIVE as Landing Craft, Air Cushioned (LCAC) Detachment FOXTROT Officer-in-Charge, where he deployed with the PELELIU Amphibious Ready Group. Following Department Head School, he reported to USS CROMMELIN (FFG 37) as Operations Officer and deployed to USSOUTHCOM in support of counterdrug operations. During his tour, CROMMELIN earned distinction as the Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE Battle “E” winner. Upon departure from CROMMELIN, CDR Carroll joined the staff of Commander, Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE as the Operations and Plans Officer. During his tour, the Sea Warriors of Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE completed a round-the-world deployment with the CARL VINSON Carrier Strike Group in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.

CDR Carroll’s shore assignments include tours at COMPACFLT as Assistant Schedules Officer and Executive Assistant to the Director for Operations, Plans, Policy and Training, and USPACOM as Maritime Operations Officer in the Joint Operations Center and Executive Assistant to the Director for Operations. He reported to USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) as Executive Officer in June 2009.

CDR Carroll is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
