|CDR Diane Cua
Commander Cua is a native of San Diego, California. She
graduated from the University of California San Diego in
1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and
earned her commission via Officer Candidate School. She
holds a Master of Arts in National Security Affairs from
the Naval Post Graduate School and a Master of Arts in
National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S.
Naval War College.
Her operational assignments include Electrical and
Auxiliaries Officer, USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62); Navigator
and Administration Officer, USS Stethem (DDG 63);
Operations Officer, USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62); and
Operations Officer, USS Shiloh (CG 67). She has deployed in support of Ballistic Missile
Defense, Maritime Counter Proliferation Interdiction duties, and Operation Tomodachi
for disaster relief efforts in response to the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in
Her assignments ashore include duty as Office of Legislative Affairs Defense Fellow for
Congressman Scott Rigell, First Tour Department Head Detailer (PERS-41) at Naval
Personnel Command in Millington, TN, and Flag Aide, Naval Surface Force Atlantic.
Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps
Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two
awards), and multiple unit and service awards.
