CDR Zac King
Commanding Officer

Commander Zac King is a native of East Hampton, Connecticut. He graduated from Union College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and holds a Masters of Science Degree in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from the National Defense University and a Masters of Arts Degree in International Relations from American University’s School of International Service.

His first sea assignment was as Repair Division Officer and Main Propulsion Division Officer in USS BATAAN (LHD 5). Following BATAAN, Commander King served as Navigator and Assistance Operations Officer in USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64). As a Department Head, he completed assignments as Chief Engineer in USS CHAFEE (DDG 90) and Material and Chief Staff Officer in Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE (CDS 31). His most recent assignment was as the Executive Officer in USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54).

While ashore, Commander King completed tours at The White House serving in the President’s Emergency Operations Center, on the Joint Staff in the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate (J5), and at U.S. Pacific Fleet in the Plans and Policy Directorate (N5).

His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, as well as various unit and campaign awards.
