USS Rafael Peralta Holds Change of Command Ceremony

SAN DIEGO (April 6, 2018) – Cmdr. Aaron DeMeyer assumed command of USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) from Cmdr. Brian Ribota during a ceremony April 6 aboard the USS Midway Museum.

Ribota took the helm as the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer’s first commanding officer in March 2015.  He is scheduled to serve at U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany, next.

DeMeyer previously served as Rafael Peralta’s first executive officer.

Rafael Peralta arrived in San Diego in June 2017 and was commissioned July 29, 2017, at Naval Air Station North Island, California.  She is currently in port in San Diego as part of an availability period at BAE Systems shipyard prior to entering the training phase in preparation for a future deployment.

USS Rafael Peralta is homeported in San Diego and assigned to Destroyer Squadron 31.​​​
