Command Master Chief (October 2014 - May 2016)
Master Chief Gerard “Bobby” Chiu enlisted in September 1988 at Subic Bay, Philippines. He completed Recruit Training, Seaman Apprenticeship Training, Hospital Corps "A" School and Medical Laboratory Technician School in San Diego, CA.
His assignments include USS Wichita (AOR1) Alameda, CA; Naval Medical Center, San Diego; Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton; Third Force Service Support Group, Okinawa; First Marine Division, Camp Pendleton; Branch Medical Clinic Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego; Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Washington, DC; 1st Medical Battalion, 1MLG, and 1st Dental Battalion 1MLG, Camp Pendleton; 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade, I Marine Expeditionary Force (FORWARD) Camp Pendleton; and 1st Marine Division (Forward), Afghanistan; 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton.
He is a graduate of the following: U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (class 121), the Command Master Chief and Chief of the Boat Course in April 2011, and the Keystone Course in 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in Business Management from San Beda College Manila, Philippines. In August 2004 he graduated from the University of Redlands, California with a Master of Arts in Management.
Master Chief Chiu's warfare qualifications include the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist. His personal awards include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Combat Action Ribbon (two awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
