Commanding Officer

Captain Tait, a native of Brighton, Michigan, was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy through the University of Michigan NROTC program in 1992.

He has served at sea in USS McClusky (FFG 41), USS Stump (DD 978), USS Cowpens (CG 63), USS Hue City (CG 66) and he commanded USS Mustin(DDG 89). His sea tours have included operations in the Western and Southern Pacific, Middle East and Europe. He arrived in USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) in April, 2016 and served as the ship's Executive Officer until November, 2016.

His shore assignments include the U.S. European Command, U.S. Pacific Fleet staff (N00 WAR), U.S. Seventh Fleet staff (EA), and Joint Staff (J-5, Asia).

Captain Tait holds masters degrees in International Policy from Stanford University and National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
