Navy Region and MIDPAC Change of Command Set for Friday

Media interested in covering the Region-MIDPAC change of command are requested to contact MCC John Hageman at the Navy Region Hawaii Public Affairs Office at 473-3788 or c808-590-8363 by 3 p.m. June 25 to arrange an escort. Media will be met at the Nimitz Gate Pass and ID parking lot at 9:15 a.m. on June 26, 2015, to be escorted to the ceremony.
JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii – With the traditional reading of official orders, exchange of salutes and ceremonial speeches, command of Navy Region Hawaii and Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific will pass from Rear Admiral Richard L. Williams Jr. to Rear Admiral John V. Fuller this Friday, June 26 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held at Kilo Pier, on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
Commander, Navy Region Hawaii has leadership oversight of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on Oahu and Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai. Commander, Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific has leadership oversight of the 11 surface ships homeported in Hawaii.
Commander, U.S. Third Fleet Vice Adm. Kenneth E. Floyd will preside at the ceremony. U.S. Third Fleet provides the realistic, relevant training necessary for an effective global Navy and leads naval forces in the Eastern Pacific from the West Coast of North America to the international date line.
Commander, Navy Installations Command Vice Adm. Dixon Smith will also participate in the ceremony. Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) is responsible for worldwide shore installation support for the United States Navy under the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO). Smith was the Region Hawaii / MIDPAC Commander from 2008 to 2011.
Williams has served here since July 2013. He will leave Hawaii to become commander of Carrier Strike Group 15 in San Diego. Fuller comes to Hawaii after serving as deputy, Littoral Combat Ships, N96, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.
