Commanding Officer (August 2013 - June 2015)
Captain Chuck Good is a native of Huntington Beach, California. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in English.
After commissioning, Captain Good served his Division Officer tours in USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57). He then reported as Flag Lieutenant to the Commander, Standing Naval Forces Atlantic (STANAVFORLANT), embarked in ships from various NATO navies. After completing Department Head School, Captain Good served as Operations Officer in USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66) and then in USS SHILOH (CG 67).
Following his Department Head tours, Captain Good worked in the Pentagon as the Requirements Officer for STANDARD Missile and TAMD Interceptors in the office of the Director, Navy Missile Defense (OPNAV N71).
Returning to sea, Captain Good served as Executive Officer in USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) and then assumed duties as Chief Staff Officer for COMDESRON TWO TWO, embarked in USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71). In 2008-2009, he commanded USS KIDD (DDG 100) during her maiden deployment.
Ashore, Captain Good served as the Strategic Sealift Officer in the Logistics Directorate (J-4) of the Joint Staff before assuming duties as Executive Assistant to the Director for Logistics. He then returned to the Navy Staff as a Branch Chief in the Surface Warfare Directorate (OPNAV N96).
In August 2013, Captain Good assumed command of USS PRINCETON (CG 59), homeported in San Diego, CA.
Captain Good holds a Master of Arts in National Security Affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, DC. His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (with one gold star), Joint Services Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (with one silver star), Navy Achievement Medal, and various service ribbons.
