Command Master Chief
Master Chief Berryman was born and raised in Little Rock, AR and graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1987. After completing two years at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, he enlisted in the United States Navy and reported to RTC Orlando in March 1990. He completed Electronics Technician A school in Great Lakes and C school in Denver, CO before reporting to USS PROTEUS (AS19) homeported in Guam. He has completed tours on USS HOLLAND (AS32), USS NIMITZ (CVN68), and USS SQUALL (PC7).
He reported to RTC Great Lakes in 1999 and served as the Leading Petty Officer of the Combat Training Pool before he was selected as Chief Petty Officer in 2001.
He completed a tour as the CPOIC in USNS PATUXENT (TAO201) and as OI Division LCPO on USS JOHN F KENNEDY (CV67) and Operations Department LCPO on USS RUSHMORE (LSD47) where he was selected as Master Chief in 2013.
Other shore duty tours include Joint Forces Command Naples Italy and as the J3 Senior Enlisted Leader at Headquarters United States European Command in Stuttgart Germany where he was selected into the Command Master Chief program in 2014. His most recent tour was as Command Master Chief for the Fighting Marlins of Patrol Squadron 40 in Whidbey Island, WA.
Master Chief Berryman is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 128, Khaki). He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and certified as a Master Training Specialist. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Studies. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and numerous unit and campaign awards.
