CAPT Kyle J. Colton

Commander Kyle Colton graduated from United States Naval Academy in 1994 with a B.S. in Naval Architecture. His initial assignment was to USS SPRUANCE (DD-963) as DCA. His subsequent sea tours include FCO/Navigator/Air Defense Officer/OPS onboard GETTYSBURG (CG 64), WEPS/CSO onboard USS MAHAN (DDG 72), and XO onboard USS ROSS (DDG 71). He served as Commanding Officer onboard USS RAMAGE (DDG 61).

His shore tours include an exchange tour to HMAS WATSON in Sydney, Australia, a Federal Executive Fellowship at the Institute for the Study of Conflict, Ideology and Policy at Boston University, two tours in OPNAV N81 as a C4I, Futures and Campaign Analyst, special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations and executive assistant to OPNAV N96. In his most recent shore tour, he served as the senior military analyst in OSD Policy, Strategy and Force Development directorate.

Captain Colton’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4), Joint Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), and various joint, unit, and service awards.
