DESRON 1 Recognizes Sailors of the Quarter
SAN DIEGO – Commander, Destroyer Squadron One (DESRON 1) named the recipients of the DESRON 1 Senior Sailor, Sailor and Junior Sailor of the Quarter Award for Fourth Quarter, FY-2014, via official naval message Oct. 15.

Information Systems Technician 1st Class (SW) Michael A. Williams, assigned to the guided missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104), was named as the DESRON 1 Senior Sailor of the Quarter.

Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class (SW) Paul R. Villamarin, also assigned to Sterett, was named as the Sailor of the Quarter.

Cryptologic Technician (Technical) 3rd Class (SW) Michael W. James, assigned to the guided missile destroyer USS Russell (DDG 59) was named as the Junior Sailor of the Quarter.

Capt. Doug Stuffle, Commander, DESRON1, said the boards were highly competitive and reflected the high quality and commitment to excellence demonstrated by DESRON 1 ships.

“I would like to congratulate all of the nominees for their selection at the command level,” said Stuffle.  “Petty Officer Williams, Petty Officer Villamarin, and Petty Officer James can be proud of this significant achievement and are to be commended.  A job well done!”
