CMDCM (AW/SW) Glenn Mallo
Command Master Chief (August 2009 - August 2011)

Master Chief Mallo joined the Navy from the Philippines on February 1985. Following completion of recruit training in Great Lakes, IL, he attended ET Class ‘A’ School at NTC Great Lakes, completed Nuclear Power School at Orlando, FL and qualified as a Reactor Operator at the S3G Prototype in Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU), Ballston Spa, NY.

Master Chief Mallo reported to his first duty assignment on board USS LONG BEACH (CGN 9) where he qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist during a North Arabian Sea deployment with the MISSOURI Battle Group. In December 1989, Master Chief Mallo was selected for nuclear instructor duty and he returned to NPTU Ballston Spa, NY. He advanced to Chief Petty Officer on September 1993 and served as the Production Training Group Lead Instructor at the MARF Prototype.

Master Chief Mallo’s follow-on nuclear propulsion assignments include USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) where he qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist during a Persian Gulf deployment in support of OPERATION DESERT FOX, and Nuclear Design School at Naval Reactors, Pittsburgh, PA prior to reporting aboard Pre-Commissioning Unit RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76). Following advancement to Master Chief Petty Officer, he was selected for the Command Master Chief Program on June 2002.

Master Chief Mallo’s first Command Master Chief (CMC) assignment was on board USS OAK HILL (LSD 51). While serving as CMC, the crew attained the Surface Warfare Excellence Pennant and was awarded the Golden Anchor Award. On May 2005, Master Chief Mallo was selected as CMC for the staff and over 16,000 student Sailors that attend apprentice technical and military training at TSC Great Lakes. During his tour at TSC Great Lakes, the command was awarded the Training Excellence Award. Master Chief Mallo served as CMC of USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) from July 2006 to June 2009 and while CMC, the crew earned the 2007 Admiral Vern Clark Safety Award, Golden Anchor Award, three Command Excellence Awards and sustained the distinction of flying both Enlisted Aviation and Enlisted Surface Warfare Excellence Pennants.

A graduate of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 97 Brown Group), Master Chief Mallo holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the State University of New York .

Master Chief Mallo’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (three awards).
