CAPT Bo Johns
Chief of Staff

Originally from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Captain Bo Johns graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1995 with a bachelor of science in mathematics.  Upon commissioning, he attended the University of Heidelberg in Germany, where he studied mathematics and operations research.  He holds a master’s degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University.
A career surface warfare officer, Captain Johns’ initial at-sea assignments were first lieutenant on USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) and machinery division officer on USS Enterprise (CVN 65).  His department head tours included operations officer on USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) and reactor electrical assistant on USS Nimitz (CVN 68).  He served as executive officer and commanding officer of USS Stockdale (DDG 106), followed by reactor officer on USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).  His most recent assignment before CTF-70 was commanding officer of USS Shiloh (67) in Yokosuka, Japan.
Ashore, Captain Johns served at Navy Personnel Command in Millington, Tennessee, as the surface nuclear junior officer detailer.  He also served at Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO in Naples, Italy, as the executive assistant to the deputy commander.
