USS Chief Arrives in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - Mineman Seaman Logan Hardy, from Millbrook, Alabama, throws a messenger line to the pier to moor the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Chief (MCM 14) as the ship arrives in Manila, Philippines, for a port visit. Chief is visiting Manila while operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to work with their Philippine Navy counterparts to strengthen regional security and stability, and enhance interoperability.
New CO Takes Command Of USS Scout
SAN DIEGO – The Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Scout (MCM 8) conducted a change of command ceremony at Naval Base San Diego, March 8. Lt. Cmdr. Eric J. Blomberg was relieved by Lt. Cmdr. Shawn R. Callihan as Scout’s commanding officer during the ceremony. Rear Adm. David A. Welch, Commander, Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center officiated over the change of command.
Seal Beach Clean-Up
While in port at Naval Weapons Stations Seal Beach, 21 Sailors assigned to the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill, volunteered for a Community Relations project to clear litter and debris from Seal Beach's waterfront, March 5.

Essex Amphibious Ready Group returns home from deployment
The Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) participates in a simulated straits transit. The Essex ARG consists of Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), San Antonio-class transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23), and Whidbey Island-class amphibious landing dock ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Essex is currently underway conducting a PHIBRON/MEU Integration (PMINT) training exercise with Amphibious Squadron THREE and 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
