Commander Randy Malone
Commander Randy Malone is a native of Arkansas. He graduated from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was commissioned through the Enlisted Commissioning Program in December 1998.
CDR Malone joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1985 and transferred to the Navy as an Electrician’s Mate in 1986. From 1987 to 1990 he served on USS Dewey (DDG 45) in Charleston SC; 1990 to 1993 he served in COMMINEDIV 125 onboard MSB 28; 1993 to 1994 he attended Trident Technical College under the Navy’s Enlisted Education Advancement Program where he earned his Associates of Science degree with honors; 1994 to 1996 he served on USS Stark (FFG 31) in Mayport, FL; 1999 to 2001 he served as the Communications Officer aboard USS Samuel Elliot Morison (FFG 13) in Mayport FL; 2001to 2003 he served as the Chief Engineer aboard USS Defender (MCM 2) in Ingleside, TX; 2003 to 2005 he served as the Combat Systems Rating Assignment Officer at the Naval Personnel Command in Millington, TN; 2006 to 2007 he served as Chief Engineer aboard USS Boone (FFG 28) in Mayport, FL; 2007 to 2009 he served as an Engineering Assessor for COMATGLANT N82 in Norfolk, VA; 2009 to 2011 he served as Material Officer and Facility Manager for COMFOURTHFLT in Mayport, FL; 2011 to 2012 he attended the Air Force Air Command and Staff College where he earned his Master’s Degree in Advanced Military Science. CDR Malone’s most recent tour of duty was at USCENTCOM 2012 to 2014 where he served as the Secretary of the Joint Staff.
CDR Malone is the Commander for USS Sioux City (LCS 11). He has earned the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other personal, unit and campaign awards. He has completed multiple deployments to regions around the world including South America, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He is married and has three children.
