Commander Wesley A. Brown
Commanding Officer

CDR Brown is a 2000 graduate of Oakland University where he received a BA in English and Russian Language and Civilization.
 
Following graduation and 13 weeks of close personal attention from the Marine Corps' finest drill instructors, he received a commission from Officer Candidate School.
 
His division officer assignments were aboard USS COLE (DDG 67) as the Ordnance Officer and onboard PC CREW INDIA as the Weapons/Executive Officer deploying to FIFTH Fleet onboard USS FIREBOLT (PC 10) and USS TYPHOON (PC 5).
 
He completed two department head tours as the Operations Officer onboard USS MAHAN (DDG 72) and USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55).
 
Ashore, CDR Brown served as a Middle East Desk Officer for OPNAV N52 and on the Joint Staff as the Interoperability Branch Chief for J8/Joint Integrated Air Missile Defense Organization.  He recently served as Executive Officer onboard USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79) in Norfolk, VA from September 2017 to March of 2019. 
 
CDR Brown attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, receiving a Master of Arts in National Security Affairs - Middle East.  Additionally, he is a graduate of the Naval War College Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) program and the Joint Force Staff College JPME II Course.
 
Personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
