CMDCM(AW/SW) Ryan G. Marlatt
Command Master Chief
Command Master Chief Marlatt, a native of Michigan, enlisted in the United States Navy on January 8, 2002. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Naval Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, where he completed IC “A” school. Upon graduation, he reported to NAS Lakehurst for Improved Fresnel Lens Optical Landing System (IFLOLS) “C” school.
He reported to his first operational command, USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) in December 2002, based in Norfolk, VA. He deployed throughout the Mediterranean, Middle East and Caribbean. Master Chief Marlatt was advanced from IC3 to IC2, eventually pursued conversion to Navy Counselor and transferred as a First Class Petty Officer. While onboard, he was named the 2005 Junior Sailor of the Year. In February 2008, he transferred to USS CARR (FFG 52) as the Command Career Counselor. USS CARR deployed multiple times to the Caribbean and South America as well in support of counter drug operations. Onboard USS CARR, he served as the Administration Department LPO and the Command Managed Equal Opportunity Advisor. In addition, Master Chief Marlatt was selected as the 2009 USS CARR, DESRON 2 and STRIKE GROUP 12 Sailor of the Year.
Master Chief Marlatt transferred from CARR to assume the duties of Command Career Counselor of Naval Test Wing Atlantic (the most technically diverse air wing in the fleet) at NAS Patuxent River, MD. He reported onboard in March, 2010 and shortly after was selected for Chief Petty Officer. He served as Secretary and House Committee Chairman of the NAS Chief Petty Officers Association and Chairman of the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society Afterhours CPO program.
Following his tour at Naval Test Wing Atlantic, he was stationed at Officer Training Command Newport, where he served as the Command Senior Chief, Command Career Counselor and Class Chief for the Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination Course.
After selection to the Command Senior Chief (CMDCS) program, he reported to US Coast Guard Leadership Development Center (LDC) to be the Command Senior Chief of the Senior Enlisted Leadership Course in New London, CT. There he served as a liaison between USN and USCG senior enlisted leadership. While on staff at the LDC, he was selected for Master Chief as well as joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and served as a Flotilla Staff Officer for Member Training. He is USCG Auxiliary instructor qualified and teaches midgrade officer leadership courses.
In February 2019, he assumed the duties and responsibilities of Command Master Chief onboard USS STOUT (DDG 55), in Norfolk, Virginia.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Brockport and has earned his Enlisted Surface and Aviation Warfare Specialist designations as well as Master Training Specialist qualification for both Navy and Coast Guard. His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2 awards), The Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society Superior Performance Award, various unit/campaign awards and is a graduate of the USCG Senior Enlisted Leadership Course, Class 57.
