Commander Tammy McCreary
CDR Tammy McCreary was born and raised in Oklahoma. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s of Science in Engineering Technology Management from Oklahoma State University. She received her commission in 2002 via the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.
Afloat, her Division Officer tours included assignments in USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61) as Fire Control and Force Protection Officer and VELLA GULF (CG 72) as Training Officer and Main Propulsion Officer. Her Department Head tours were as Engineer Officer in USS THACH (FFG 43) and Gas Turbine Deputy in Engineering Assessments Pacific (EAP).
Ashore, she was assigned to Surface Warfare Officer School as a Seamanship, Navigation, Ship-handling Instructor, where she also deployed as the Request for Information and Fragmentary Order Manager for Multi-National Corps – Iraq. She completed her Joint Professional Military Education Phase I while attending Command and General Staff College. She has been assigned to Surface Warfare Officer School as the Common Core Lead for the Officer Engineering Directorate, OPNAV N95 staff in the Amphibious Ship Maintenance and Readiness branch, and PEO USC as the PMS 420 Deputy PAPM for ASW Mission Package.
CDR McCreary’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards) and various unit and service awards.
