CMDCM(SW/AW) LaSherrie James
Command Master Chief

Click for high resolutionMaster Chief LaSherrie James, a native of New Jersey, graduated from High School in New York in 1994. She enlisted in the Navy through the Delayed Entry Program in July 1994.  She attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in September 1994.

Master Chief James’ sea duty assignments include VQ-5 (SEA SHADOWS) NAS North Island, VF-213 (BLACKLIONS) NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA, USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71) support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) where she was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and deployed in Middle East, the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operations, USS GEORGE W. BUSH  (CVN-77), where she served as AIMD Production Control Leading Chief Petty Officer, VFA-27(ROYAL MACES), Atsugi, Japan which was attached to USS RONALD REGAN (CVN-76) which she was highly engaged in the hull swap with USS GEORGE WASHINGTON(CVN-73).
Ashore, Master Chief James served at AIMD, Support Equipment Division in San Diego, CA, HS-10 (WARHAWKS) NAS North Island, San Diego, CA, SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic Norfolk, VA, VRC-40 (RAWHIDES) Norfolk, VA as the Maintenance Senior Chief. In January 2017 she was assigned to Commander Patrol and Reconnaissance Group (CPRG), OOMA Class desk Norfolk, VA, where she was selected as a Command Senior Chief then selected to Command Master Chief.
Master Chief James is currently serving as the Command Master Chief onboard USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109), Norfolk, VA. She is a graduate of U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class #179) and Command Leadership, CMC/COB Course (Class #182).  
Her decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal (7 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
