MMCS(SW) Garnet S. Esmalla Senior Enlisted Leader
Senior Chief Machinist’s Mate Garnet S Esmalla enlisted in the United States Navy in Sep 1996. He attended recruit training and Fireman Apprenticeship School in Great Lakes, IL. Upon completion of boot camp and Apprenticeship School, Senior Chief Esmalla reported to USS Camden (AOE 2) stationed in Bremerton, WA. Onboard the USS CAMDEN, he completed two Western Pacific deployments to COMFIFTHFLT (C5F) and COMSEVENTHFLT (C7F).
In 2002, he reported to USMEPCOM and was assigned to Albany NY Military Entrance Processing Station where he served as the Transportation NCO. In Mar 2005, He reported to the forward deployed air craft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. While onboard, he served as RP04 LPO and completed three C5F deployments and qualified Engineering Officer of the Watch. In Dec 2007, He reported to USS BOXER (LHD 4) where he qualified EOOW and advanced to Chief Petty Officer.
In Dec 2008, He was assigned to Afloat Training Group San Diego where he qualified Training Team Leader, Engineering Assessment Pacific Steam Assessor and Afloat Training Specialist, and advanced to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.
In 2012, He reported to the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) stationed at Everett, WA and served as Reactor Propulsion LCPO and completed a deployment to C5F AOR. He reported to Afloat Training Group Norfolk in Sep 2016 where he qualified Team Lead, Engineering Assessment Atlantic Steam Assessor and Master Training Specialist.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal (two awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
