Chief Knightes was born and raised in Texas. He graduated from High School in May 1996 and entered the U.S. Navy attending basic training in Great Lakes, IL in September 1996.
Chief Knightes attended Advanced Electronic Technical Core and Firecontrolman “A” school in Great Lakes and “C” MK-23 Target Acquisition School in Damneck VA. He reported to his first duty station USS Supply (AOE-6) in Earle, NJ May 1998 as a Workcenter Supervisor.
Chief Knightes’ follow on tours include USS Kitty Hawk, (CV-63) in Yokosuka Japan where he was the NSSMS/MK-23 Group Workcenter Supervisor. He then went to MA “A” School in Point Loma, CA and became stationed at NAES Lakehurst, NJ where he had two IA’s: Embarked Security Team in the Arabian Gulf and Humanitarian Aid in New Orleans, LA following Hurricane Katrina. He then did Detainee Operations in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and had follow on orders to USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) where he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2011. Next tour was to Afloat Training Group Norfolk where he worked as the AW/SUW Team Lead for Amphibious Ships. Chief Knightes is currently stationed at Commander Amphibious Squadron Four and is assigned to the N-7 Training, Anti-terrorism, and Explosive Safety Dept.
Chief Knightes is married and has two daughters and one son. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Information Dominance Warfare Specialist.
