ITCS(IW/SW) John T. Ernest
Senior Enlisted Advisor
Senior Chief Ernest is a native of Louisiana. He graduated from High School, Class of 1994. He enlisted in the United States Navy on March 12, 1996. He completed Recruit Training at RTC Great Lakes, Illinois in May.
He graduated Operations Specialist “A” School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He did a tour onboard the USS Antietam (CG-54) home ported in San Diego, California. He converted to Cryptologic Technician Communications (CTO) and completed “A” School in Pensacola, Florida. His follow-on assignments were the Office of Naval Intelligences (ONI)/Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Naples, Italy and Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Pensacola, Florida (where he also did an Individual Augmentation to Balad, Iraq).
After force conversion to Information Systems Technician (IT) his tours of duty include USS Mount Whitney (LCC/JCC 20) Forward Deployed to Gaeta, Italy, Tactical Training Group Atlantic (TTGL) Virginia Beach, Virginia, Naval Network Warfare Command (NNWC) Suffolk, Virginia.
He is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor and Communications Officer at Commander Destroyer Squadron Two-Six (CDS-26) Norfolk, Virginia.
His awards include a Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and numerous other unit and campaign awards.
Senior Chief Petty Officer Ernest is married and they have four daughters.
