CAPT John A Krisciunas
Captain John Krisciunas earned his commission in 1997 through the Washington State University/University of Idaho NROTC program.
His first sea tours were aboard USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD-6) where he served as Electrical, CIC, and Auxiliaries Officer. Upon completion of his division officer tours, he immediately proceeded to Department Head training and served two tours aboard USS CARNEY (DDG-64) as Weapons officer and Combat Systems officer.
After earning his Master’s Degree at the Naval War College he was assigned to the U.S. NORTHERN COMMAND as a Joint Planner. During his Joint Tour CAPT Krisciunas was selected for Early Command and commanded USS CHIEF (MCM 14) and USS ARDENT
(MCM 12) forward deployed to the Fifth Fleet AOR.
Upon completion of his early command tours he reported to OPNAV N96 as a resource sponsor for Fleet Weapon Systems. In 2010 he was selected for a Congressional Fellowship and served on a congressional staff overseeing the congressman’s Armed Services Committee portfolio.
In 2012 he reported as Executive Officer in USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG-98) and subsequently assumed Command in January 2014. Post-Command he reported to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Federal Executive Fellow followed by serving as the Deputy Executive Assistant to OPNAV N3/N5.
