A Kentucky native, LCDR Logsdon enlisted in the United States Navy in 1989.  Upon completing Basic Training in Orlando, Florida, he reported to USS O’BANNON (DD 987) where he served from 1990-1994.  During this tour, he deployed to South America in support of UNITAS, was promoted to Boatswain’s Mate Second Class and later was selected to participate in the Enlisted Education Advancement Program (EEAP).  Upon completion of EEAP he reported to USS NASSAU (LHA 4) in 1996.  Serving in Deck Department, he deployed three times throughout his tour to the FIFTH and SIXTH Fleet AORs.  In 2000 he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and then transferred to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 6 in 2001.  In January of 2002 he was selected to be commissioned as a Limited Duty Officer (LDO) and reported to LDO school in Pensacola, Florida in 2002.
In 2003 he reported to USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50) as the Ship’s Boatswain, deploying to FIFTH Fleet in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.  In 2005 he transferred to USS BATAAN (LHD 5) where he served as the Assistant First Lieutenant, participating in PANAMAX 2005 and Hurricane Katrina efforts in the Gulf Coast.  He transferred to shore duty in 2007 and was the senior Deck Afloat Safety Assessor at the Naval Safety Center until 2009.  During this tour, he completed an Individual Augmentation (IA) to Naval Provisional Detainee Battalion in Camp Bucca, Iraq.
In 2009, he laterally converted from LDO to Surface Warfare and reported to his single longer Department Head tour in 2010 onboard USS MESA VERDE (LPD 19).  He served as the Operations Officer, deploying with BATAAN Amphibious Ready Group in support of OPERATION UNIFIED PROTECTOR until he reported to Expeditionary Strike Group TWO in 2014. While at ESG2, he served as the Assistant Operational Scheduler until May of 2016. He was assigned as Fleet Watch Officer at United States Fleet Forces Command before his assignment as USS PONCE (ASFSI 15) Executive Officer.
LCDR Logsdon’s decorations include the Bronze Star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (8 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards) and various unit citations and campaign medals.
