CMDCM(SW/AW/NWS) Alan Tapley
Command Master Chief
Master Chief Tapley was born and raised in Texas. He graduated from Ford High School in May 1996 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy attending basic training in Great Lakes, IL in March 1997.
He attended MK92 Mod 2 Fire Control System School in San Diego, CA, and his first duty assignment was onboard USS HALYBURTON (FFG 40) as a Fire Controlman. He converted to Master at Arms in 2003, and joined the Chief Petty Officer ranks in 2006 while assigned to NAS Whiting Field. In 2007, he was assigned to Naval Support Activity Naples, Italy as a Section Chief and Antiterrorism/Force Protection Leading Chief Petty Officer. In 2010, he reported to Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer where he served as a Company Senior Enlisted Advisor. He was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer in 2013 and assumed the duties as Senior Enlisted Advisor for Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, GA. In 2014, he reported to the Office of Military Support, Naval Criminal Investigative Service as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader. He is currently assigned to PCU PAUL IGNATIUS (DDG 117) where he serves as the Command Master Chief.
His academic achievements include an Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies from American Military University.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist pin, Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist pin and Enlisted Nuclear Weapon Security Breast Insignia.
