Captain Shawn Malone

Captain Shawn Malone is from Chicopee, Massachusetts. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1990. After completing flight school, he reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (Light) FOUR FIVE where he deployed with USS ANTIETAM (CG 54) and USS VINCENNES (CG 49) for his first sea tour in San Diego, California. Subsequent sea tours included assignments with Cruiser-Destroyer Group EIGHT / Eisenhower Battle Group staff; Carrier Group SEVEN / STENNIS Carrier Strike Group staff; HSL 47 as a Department Head / Detachment Officer-in-Charge deployed with USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64); and as the HSL 47 Executive Officer and Commanding Officer where he deployed twice with LINCOLN Carrier Strike Group and Carrier Air Wing TWO.
Ashore his assignments included tours as an instructor pilot with HSL 41, the SH-60B LAMPS MkIII Fleet Replacement Squadron in San Diego; as the U.S. representative to the Naval Staff College's international maritime course in Newport, Rhode Island; as a requirements officer at the Pentagon with the Surface Warfare Division (OPNAV N86); as a desk officer with The Joint Staff strategic plans and policy directorate (J5); and as an Executive Assistant to the Director, Air Warfare Division (OPNAV N98) and Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfare Systems (OPNAV N9). He also served as Commander, Helicopter Maritime Strike Wing, Pacific where he was responsible for manning, training and equipping MH-60R squadrons in San Diego, Hawaii and Atsugi, Japan.
