Whom do I contact to get the NIAPS process started?

SPAWAR Systems Command (SSC) Pacific has been tasked by the Distance Support program office, PMW 250, to be the lead activity for the NIAPS process. SSC Pacific has a team of individuals who are standing by to assist anyone who wishes to have their product considered for inclusion on a NIAPS release. A product will be considered for a NIAPS release if the product owner can answer 'Yes' to all of these questions:

  1. Is this NIAPS candidate beneficial to the shipboard sailor?
  2. Does this NIAPS candidate have a government sponsor?
  3. Is this NIAPS candidate currently funded?
  4. Is this NIAPS candidate's most current version registered or in the process of being registered in DADMS?
  5. Is the NIAPS candidate's development stage such that it is considered ready for release to the fleet (i.e. not in a pre-alpha, alpha or beta test stage and is ready/will be ready for release in the next 6 months)?
  6. Has this NIAPS candidate been approved by the Functional Area Manager (FAM) to be listed on the most current, approved Baseline Allowance Control (BAC) list?
  7. Does the NIAPS candidate understand and agree to the fact that there are Application Business Rules (rules for it being hosted on NIAPS) associated with having their product included on NIAPS and agree to resource the associated fees for 'Joining' NIAPS?
  8. Once approved for inclusion, there is the potential for recurring annual fees for the product to continue to ride on NIAPS.  Does the government sponsor understand that there is the potential that the NIAPS program could apply recurring annual fees to ride NIAPS in the future?

If the product meets all of the above criteria, then the NIAPS process can be started by contacting the NIAPS Configuration Management Lead at SSC Pacific at 619-553-9631 or the NIAPS Project Director at 619-553-2411.          Back to Top

Whether I'm a new or existing NIAPS customer, whom do I contact for help?

In the past, the Naval Sea Logistics Center's NIAPS Customer Advocate (NCA) team had been stood up by the Distance Support program office to serve as the customer's liaison and their main point of contact for anything needed related to NIAPS.  Now, that responsibility has been passed on to the NIAPS Configuration Management (CM) Team at SSC Pacific.  The NIAPS CM Team will now act as a NIAPS customer's:

  • Gatekeepers for the "Joining" part of NIAPS. They will guide new NIAPS customers on how to get started; where to get started and what the requirements are once the process is started.  Once a NIAPS customer completes the prerequisites of the 'Join' part of the NIAPS process, a NIAPS CM team member will be permanently assigned to their product and will then serve as their POC for the life of the product while it is part of a NIAPS release.  As a result, for existing NIAPS customers, they are a resource that can be turned to get answers when they may not know who to go to for answers.

  • "1-800" number.  Because of their close working relationship with all of the activities that are involved in getting a product approved for a NIAPS release, they know the ins and outs of everything related to the NIAPS process.

  • Point of contact for gathering all of the logistics, certification and accreditation and technical deliverables that will be needed by the NIAPS process.

The NIAPS CM Lead can be reached at: 619-553-9631
The NIAPS Project Director can be reached at: 619-553-2411
