"Learn to lead. Choose to succeed."
The Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps seeks to instill
in participating U.S. high school students the values of
citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility
and a sense of accomplishment. NJROTC cadets stand out among their
peers as ethical, confident, physically fit, academically dedicated
young men and women. NJROTC seeks to instill a strong foundation of
citizenship in America's future leaders. NJROTC is not a recruiting
program, but a citizenship program. Schools that have NJROTC
programs benefit from the program's stellar reputation and the
cadets' community service.
"Pride in Service" has been the theme for Navy Band Great Lakes.
From 1911, when the first bugler reported for duty, to bandmaster
John Philip Sousa in 1917, to today's bandmaster, our music
represents the pride and professionalism that is synonymous with the
United States Navy. Serving Commander, Naval Service Training
Command's mission of transforming volunteers into 21st century Sea
Warriors, Navy Band Great Lakes performs ceremonies to honor
recruits, Sailors, and their families. As the Navy's "Ambassadors to
the Midwest," Navy Band Great Lakes performs for hundreds of
thousands of people every year, providing musical support for
community relations and Navy Recruiting in a ten-state area of
responsibility stretching from Ohio to North Dakota.
