Military musicians are required to perform in a wide variety of musical styles and settings. During training at the Naval School of Music, students are exposed to as many different types of music as possible. Meeting this demand requires an extensive library of music. Stored in a moveable aisle shelving system, over 13,500 manuscripts are in the library's inventory.
Compositions range from orchestral transcriptions, to current wind ensemble composers. The library also contains over 2,300 marches, and numerous jazz charts from traditional big-band to contemporary styles.
