CDR Brian S. Long
Executive Officer, Naval Network Warfare Command
CDR Long grew up in Cowarts Alabama were he enlisted in 1987 as a Fire Controlman (FC). He is a 1999 graduate of the University of North Florida with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master's of Science in Computer Science in 2006, and a Masters of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Air Force War College in 2018. He is qualified as an Advance Information Professional, Information Warfare Officer, Submarine Warfare Officer, Navy Nuclear Engineer, and a Joint Qualified Officer.
Fleet assignments include O'BRIEN (DD 975) in San Diego CA and USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55) in Mayport, FL, as a TOMAHAWK VLS, HARPOON, and FCS/ORTS technician and operator; USS RHODE ISLAND (BLUE) (SSBN 740) in Kings Bay, GA as the Chemical Radiological Assistant, the Assistant Engineer, and the Tactical Systems Officer; USS OLYMPIA (SSN 717) in Pearl Harbor, HI as the Combat Systems Officer; USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) as the Combat System Information Officer; and COMCARSTRKGRU TWELVE as the Deputy C4I Officer and Knowledge manager.
Shore assignments include USSTRATCOM/J86 as Chief for Nuclear Command and Control requirements and integration.
Commander Long's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and the Good Conduct Medal (two Bronze Stars), and various unit awards.
