ANALOG LINE - A standard single telephone line.

DIGITAL LINE -  A multi line telephone line. (Not available in Monterey and El Centro.)

ISDN LINE- is a circuit-switched telephone network system, allowing digital transmission of voice and data over ordinary telephone copper wires, resulting in potentially better voice quality than an analog phone can provide.  ISDN lines are primarily used for VTC equipment.

T1 CIRCUIT - T1 stands for Trunk Level 1. it's a digital transmission link with a total signaling speed of 1.544 bits per second. T1 is standard for digital transmission in North America. You can get channelized service delivered as voice or data and unchannelized raw bit stream. T1 channelized is the most used way of delivering a T1, it's split so you have 24 voice grade channels with each running at 56/64kbps so it's more cost effective if your going to install a lot of phones in an office. Unchannelized T1 is better used for data communication applications for compressed voice, video and IP telephony.

LOCAL -  Local telephone service is the provision of telecommunications networks and services within a limited geographic region.

LONG DISTANCE - is a telephone call made outside a certain area, usually characterized by an area code outside of a local call area (known in the United States as a Local Access and Transport Area or LATA). Long-distance calls usually carry long-distance charges.  International calls are calls made between different countries, and usually carry much higher charges. These calls are charged to the calling party if the called party declines a collect call.

DSN -   The primary function of the DSN is to provide non-secure dial-up voice service. The DSN provides rapid, reliable, survivable, non-secure/secure, and economical telecommunications. The DSN system is used only for official business or in the interest of the government and is the first choice for all switched voice and dial-up video telecommunications between DOD user locations.

CONFERENCE CALLING - A conference call is a telephone call in which the calling party wishes to have more than one called party listen in to the audio portion of the call.  Conference calls can be designed so that the calling party calls the other participants and adds them to the call - however, participants are usually able to call into the conference call themselves, by dialing into a special telephone number that connects to a "conference bridge" (a specialized type of equipment that links telephone lines).

VOICEMAIL - A computerized system for answering and routing telephone calls; telephone messages can be recorded and stored and relayed.  Similar to an answering machine used for conventional phones, except that the messages are saved and serviced at a central location, rather than at the individual telephone.

CALL TRANSFER - A call transfer is a telecommunications mechanism that enables a user to relocate an existing call to another telephone or attendant console by using the transfer button and dialing the required code.

CALL FORWARDING - FOLLOW ME - This service gives the subscriber the ability to forward incoming calls to another number.

CALL FORWARDING - BUSY/DO NOT ANSWER - will forward the incoming call if you are already talking on the phone. Call Forward Don't Answer will forward the incoming call if you are not talking on the phone, but do not answer the call.

CALL COVERAGE - is call forwarding that is programmed in the switch.

CALL PICKUP - Allows answering of other telephones in your pickup group from your phone.  must be pre-programmed into the switch.

LAST NUMBER DIALED (AUTO REDIAL) - is a service feature that allows the user to dial, by depressing a single key or a few keys, the most recent telephone number dialed at that instrument.

AUTOMATIC CALLBACK - FOR CALLING ON BASE NUMBERS ONLY - a telephone system feature that permits a caller who gets a busy signal to instruct the system to establish the connection when the line becomes available for base calls only.
